NetPassage WP18 firmware recovery procedure. ------------------------------------------- This procedure shows how to reload the firmware to router should something goes wrong and router could not startup properly. Should this happened, router automatically switch to firmware upload mode. The DIAG light will blinking rapidly (about 5 times per second). Table 1: -------- Router Operation state DIAG ----------------------------------------------------------------------- a) Firmware corrupted, need reload Blinking quickly.(5/sec) b) Firmware upload successfully Blinking slowly (1/sec) c) Firmware upload failed, need reload Blinking quickly.(5/sec) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ How to recover router from failed firmware ========================================== Before you start, after power ON router wait for 1 min, check the DIAG light status as described in table (1)'s status (a). If DIAG light continuously flashing fast after the 1 min start time and you can't access router with uConfig then firmware might be corrupted. Follow procedure below. Otherwise, router firmware has no problem. If you experienced other problems please call technical support for help. 1) Power OFF and disconnect router from the network. 2) Connect one end of a MDI cable to the LAN port on the router then connect the other end to your computer's LAN adapter. 3) Config your computer's IP to, 192.168.168.100 with netmask 255.255.255.0 4) Insert NP18A CD containing the recovery file in CD-ROM and run the batch file, wp18grcv.bat to start the firmware upload. 5) After firmware is transferred to router the DIAG light will stop blinking and stay steady light up. PLEASE DO NOT power OFF or reset router at this time. Router is currently writting firmware to flashrom. 5) When completed, the DIAG light will blink slowly, about 1 flash per second. 6) Reset the router and it will start up normally. 7) If still have problem, please call technical support for further help. ---------------------------------
